Mimi’s Bistro in Grosse Pointe Park is a charming “scratch kitchen” restaurant, bistro and bakery specializing in refined casual European cuisine. A namesake for owner Melanie Schridde’s German great-grandmother, Mimi’s proudly offers an elegant dining experience in an easygoing European-inspired atmosphere. Mimi’s is a concept named after Schridde’s great grandmother, who was a professional cook in Germany. Coming from a family of cooks and being surrounded as a child by weekly gatherings of friends and professionals who made outstanding food, it is no wonder as to why she chose to open a restaurant. Mimi’s is all about quality and freshness, just like grandma used to make. We believe in using as much local produce and businesses as well as using produce that is in season. Everything on Mimi’s menu is seasonal and made from scratch. Additionally, Mimi’s uses organic ingredients that are sourced, whenever possible.
The menu offers a well-curated offering of American and European fare, not to mention delicious daily specials. Things to come: cooking classes and a boutique to-go market that will offer à la carte pre-prepared meals and pre-packaged specialty sauces, etc. Perfect take-home dinner options for the healthy mom and business person on the go! We also will offer catering for personal and corporate events. More than a restaurant, Mimi’s is committed to being active in the community and looks forward to being able to give back and collaborate. As Schridde puts it, “It’s not just about the food, it’s about the entire experience.”

Our Head Chef is James Ansell.

Chef Ansell trained under Executive Chef Brian Beland at the Country Club of Detroit for nearly nine years. He came to us excited to begin a career running his own kitchen.
Chef Ansell said he chose Mimi’s Bistro because of our dedication to quality, locally sourced ingredients, and the small business “family” environment. He considers his passion for cooking “a personal obsession.”
Look out for Chef Ansell’s additions to our dinner service, featuring his modern takes on traditional German dishes.

We are truly a family restaurant at Mimi’s Bistro!
